Terms & Conditions – Updated 6 Monthly

Kesshin Kai (KK) does not inform each student/parent individually regarding any changes to the Bi-annual Terms and Conditions. It is required for each student/parent to monitor this document below accordingly.

Kesshin Kai (KK) or any instructor associated with the KK, will not accept liability for any personal injuries or accidents resulting from the improper practice or use of any of the techniques listed in this site, on any self-defence/short courses, workshops or whilst visiting their Dojo or the National Windermere Headquarters Dojo.

All martial arts techniques, if performed incorrectly, can cause serious injury and should not be attempted without supervision from a qualified martial arts instructor.

All Kesshin Kai students must purchase a licence which includes adequate and proper insurance for martial arts practice prior to commencing training.

This is in accordance with the rules laid down by the Kesshin Kai U.K.

Registration and Insurance Renewals

All insurances are automatically renewed every 12 months. If you are not insured you can’t officially train in the club. All students must give two weeks notice to cancel their insurance renewal.

Matt Etiquette

Etiquette is important within the club. The student must conform to the 10 rules of the dojo. This is given to every new student when registering. The student must respect and honour the Sensei and club at all times, on and off the matt.

Attire

Only the official Gi  (suit) should be worn and all correct number of badges should be sown prior to the grading ie; When taking Yellow belt 1 badge, orange 2 badges etc. No tattoos, wrist bands of any kind should be visible whilst training on the matt. All earings, bracelets, rings,(of any kind)and watches should be removed before entering the dojo. Piercings that can not be removed must be covered with a plaster or appropriate band aid. (visible or not)

Direct Debit

To ensure our policies and insurance is up to date, we require that all students have registered through the online booking system, TeamUp (On registration to the club). The system also requires we have contact information and emergency information of parents/carers, students and medical history.  All payments will be taken through the direct debit system GoCardless online.

If we do not have a record of the students attendance, this will invalidate our insurance and we have the right to refuse entry to the Martial Arts training within Kesshin Kai.

Please note, failure to adhere to the guidelines above will invalidate your membership and insurance of Kesshin Kai.

The Direct Debit is set up through gocardless.com. If the training fees increase, Kesshin Kai will give a minimum of 10 days notice. Should a student decide to leave the club, it is the full responsibility of the student/parent to cancel the direct debit, not that of Kesshin Kai. Unfortunately no reimbursements will be made.

Holiday Time Yeah!!!

KK takes 6 weeks off every year. 2 weeks at Christmas, 2 weeks at Easter and 2 weeks over summer. This gives all students and family members time to recharge, ready for starting back at their club.

The 6 weeks above are already factored into the monthly fee.

Students are are free to make up or catch up on any missed classes or their personal holidays at a later date if taken in the same month.

Self Defence 4 Schools

All students within Selfdefence4schools-subsidised programme are required to partake in additional fundraising every 6 months. Alternatively students are free to contribute to the programme if they can’t attend the fundraising events.

Attendance Classes

Each student must have valid insurance

Monthly Classes

Any missed classes can be made up within the same paid month, but cannot be carried through to the following month.

KK cannot accept responsibility for any lessons cancelled due to an Act of God which refers to, but is not solely inclusive of; snow, floods, fire and epidemics

Competitions, Workshops & Courses

Once a deposit has been made for the Competition, workshop or course, under no circumstances will it be refunded. This is also the case of the full payment, unless a doctor’s note can be provided or some physical accident which prevents the student from attending ie: broken arm. In this case a credit note of voucher may be awarded.

Social Media

Kesshin Kai  frequently takes videos and  photos of students at classes, courses, competitions, major events and our Online training courses richsmithmartialarts.thinkific.com. All Copyrights remains with @KesshinKai.

This is to help raise awareness within the club and social media. It  is also a key part in improving  the level, training and the development of each individual.

If a student/parent would prefer not to be associated with Kesshin Kai publicity and social media sites, then written confirmation is required and can be emailed to info.jujitsu@yahoo.co.uk

Any photographs or video footage taken of the classes will only be used by Kesshin Kai and will not be shared with any third party.

All comments from social media friends or followers must be positive to both Kesshin Kai persons, coaches and students. If a person posts an inappropriate or negative comment they will be deleted/blocked from all pages associated.

Kendal Club

RSUncategorized

Kendal Leisure Centre, Burton Road, Kendal, Cumbria LA9 7HX

Fridays- Studio 2 (Turn right up the stairs at Main Reception)

Parents and Foxes 4.15pm-5pm –New Class Starts 3rd March 2017
Tigers Ju-Jitsu 5.15-6pm
Juniors & Seniors Sport Nunchaku 6-7pm
Seniors Ju-Jitsu 7-8pm

The Kendal club, which is based at Lakes Leisure, is now in it’s 10th year and after an unbelievably successful 12 months, is going from strength to strength.

We have a Tigers section of the club on Fridays, which
is specifically for students aged 5-8, and will also be introducing the New Foxes; a group designed for Parents and 3-4 year olds combined in one class. This is a great chance for Parents and children to get involved, concentrating on motor skills,  discipline, social skills, confidence and improve listening skills within a Self-defence based Ju-Jitsu environment.

From 9 years to adult the students train in the main class, so there is always a great mixture of ages and abilities on the mat at any one time, which makes the session fun. The varied mix keeps the class fresh and with so many people to work with there is always the chance to practice your grapples, locks, strikes and blocks with a new opponent. This ensures your mind stays focused and challenged and you get a full body workout which increases your fitness levels.

With gradings at least twice a year, it has been great to see the progression of so many Kesshin Kai students. From getting their white belt to moving through to orange and above , the change in so many people has been a privilege to witness and be part of.

-Testimonial by – Tom Miles-

“I am 15 years old & have been learning Ju-Jitsu for 7 years and Sport Nunchaku for 3 and a half years.
As well as training in Ju-Jitsu I also train in Nunchaku (made famous by Bruce Lee). In March 2008 10 students including myself and my Sensei Richard Smith (Nunchaku National Coach, 2nd in Europe(2012), 4th in the World(2012) attended the World Nunchaku Championships in Vevy, Switzerland.

I was the youngest competitor in my age category (10 – 13 years) and came 3rd in the world, bringing a bronze medal home for Great Britain.
I was lucky enough to attend the European Championships which was in Switzerland, December 2009
and gained so much experience from the trip.
At the European Championships in Britain in 2010, I was ranked 3rd in Freestyle, obtaining another bronze medal for the UK. I am really looking forward to the World Nunchaku Championships which Sensei Smith is hosting at Lakes Leisure, Kendal in May 2015.

I passed my Junior 1st Dan Black Belt October 2009.

Currently I am working on my Kobudo (traditional weapons), circle work, Atemi point punches & kicks to the body and Anatomy of the Samurai Sword.”

We regularly have offers on throughout the year, so please check the latest news section of the website to be kept up to date on what they are.
